Care and cleaning

Hand wash, dry well and treat it kindly — a bit like your favourite wooden chopping board — and it'll stay looking good for much longer.

We don't recommend the microwave, oven, dishwasher or steriliser. There are no fillers in our bamboo, so repeated heat and soaking will swell and crack it.

Shipping and returns

Dinnerware ships at a flat $10 within Australia, or $15 for parcels over 550g. Toothbrush packs ship free, but that doesn't carry across to dinnerware — order both and the dinnerware is still charged.

What it's made of

Bamboo, and why we chose it

Bamboo is a grass, not a timber. Cut it and it regrows from the same root system without replanting, reaching usable size in a few years rather than a few decades. That's one of the reasons we love it.

With the right care, our natural bamboo tableware should last for years.

Bamboo is a natural material, with no fillers added to make it tougher or more heat resistant. That's why we don't recommend putting it in the microwave, oven, dishwasher or steriliser.

It may not blow up your microwave or melt the silicone rings, but repeated heat, soaking and high temperatures can deteriorate the bamboo quickly, causing swelling, cracks and weak points.

Questions, answered

Still stuck? Email info@theboocollective.com.au and we'll get back to you.
Can it go in the dishwasher, microwave or steriliser?

We don't recommend it. Bamboo is a natural material with no fillers added to make it tougher or more heat resistant, so repeated heat, soaking and high temperatures deteriorate it quickly — swelling, cracks and weak points.

Hand wash and dry well instead and it will last far longer.

How do I care for it?

Hand wash, dry well and treat it kindly — a bit like your favourite wooden chopping board.

For the suction sets, wipe the silicone and the surface underneath before you press down. Suction only works on two clean, flat surfaces.

Is it safe for babies and toddlers?

Yes. Our bamboo tableware is designed for little eaters and is safe to use when cared for correctly.

Because bamboo is a natural material, check it regularly and stop using it if you notice cracks, splinters or damage.

What happens when I'm done with it?

They come apart. The silicone can go to TerraCycle rather than landfill, and the bamboo breaks down naturally in compost or green waste.
